SMART LOCKS FOR YOUR HOME

Did you know that the global smart locks market size was valued at $ 2,366.51 million in 2020, and is projected to reach $14,972.3 million by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 20.1% from 2021 to 2030. (Allied Market Research). Existing since at least Egyptian civilization, key and lock systems have stood the test of time. Until just recently, we have relied on the mechanical, tradition lock-and-key systems. And though they have certainly gotten better over time, the system itself hasn't really changed. When it comes to change in any society, it can take years and sometimes several generations to adjust to change, and the lock-and-key system is no exception.

Enter Smart Locks. These locks are an upgrade over the old way of doing things. Once you have your smart lock installed by our home locksmith in Westminster, you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner. Smart locks can be incredibly convenient and can allow you to:

  • Give temporary access to houseguests
  • Give temporary access to service providers
  • Give temporary access to Airbnbers
  • Monitor who enters your home
  • Open your door "ahead" of you
  • Lock your door from a different location
  • Alert you to an intruder
  • Provide video footage of those who enter

and more...

Are you ready to step into change with smart lock technology? Following, is an outline of some of the most popular locks are on the market today.

Kwikset Halo Touch

Kwikset Halo Touch

This is the best smart lock for most people.  It's user friendly and affordable.

Some of the benefits of the Qwikset Halo Touch is that it has an effective operation with a convenient fingerprint scanner. It is smaller and has an attractive exterior escutcheon (metal protection) compared to the competition. It's setup process is streamlined.

Kwikset allows the use of a fingerprint reader on their lock which significantly shrinks the "footprint" of the lock on the front of your door. Kwikset also gives you the option of using a conventional key to open the lock in case the fingerprint reader doesn't recognize the authorized finger print.

Some drawbacks to the Kwikset Halo Touch is its delay in operation when a setting is changed. Its interior metal protection is considered unattractive. It can be considered relatively expensive at an average retail price of $249.00.

Level Lock Touch Edition

Level Lock touch edition smart lock

This is the second best smart lock for most people.  Here's why.

The Level Lock Touch Edition is very easy to install, with an adjustable backset. Its performance is reliable and it is user friendly. To most people, this lock is attractive to look at.

Some drawbacks to the Level Lock Touch Edition is that it does provide support for Google Assistant, and IPhone users need a HomeKit hub if they want to control it away from home. Android users need an Amazon Sidewalk Bridge to control it away from home.

At $329 it is considered expensive, though you can find it for as low as 280.00 at Best Buy (As of 8/4/22)

Wyze Lock Bolt

At a price of about $70.00 you might consider this the best value.

The Wyze Lock includes a fingerprint reader and functions perfectly. This lock allows you to establish a temporary PIN from a distance, without Wi-Fi.

This lock works by Bluetooth only and has no actual Wi-Fi connectivity. It can't be included into a smart home system and has an industrial appearance and design. It also cannot detect if your door is open or closed. This lock does not provide the option of using a physical key.

Level Bolt Retrofit

This lock is well appreciated for its unobtrusive fit. It is also very easy to set up and to use. In daily use, it works impeccably.

But if you want to log a lot of activity, this product provides minimal activity logging. If you are an IPhone user, you'll need a HomeKit hub to have access to your lock when you are away. Android users have to purchase a Sidewalk Bridge in order to have control of the lock away from home.

Android phone users will need an Amazon Sidewalk bridge in order to control the lock while away from home

The cost is tolerable at a retail price of $229.

Lockly WiFi Digital

To have a video door bell and a smart lock combined with an integrated fingerprint reader is impressive in this smart lock. It has plenty of storage on the companion hub so no need to buy more space on the cloud.

The drawbacks are that it can be awkwardly bulky on your door and therefore, not so pretty. It is also missing the option to set up an interior chime. You will also need to wire the Companion Bridge to your router, which might be less than convenient.

It's considered expensive as smart locks go retailing at $399.99.

Bosma Aegis

Bosma Aegis

The Bosma Aegis' reliability is superb. The Geofencing features are smart and easily operated as well as perfectly performing. It is one of the less expensive smart lock varieties retailing at $119.99.
